Our Goal
The City of Bayonne has grown dramatically in the recent past, with over 10,000 new residential units constructed in the last decade. Mass transportation has been taxed by these new residents, and the City is working to expand capacity and options. In 2018, the City and True applied for and received a Federal Highway Authority grant to construct a commuter ferry terminal at the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor to serve commuters to Manhattan. The terminal is being designed to scale up in size and capacity as ridership increases.
Our Gameplan
True is designing, permitting, and administering the construction of the ferry project, and participating in the procurement of a ferry operator. The terminal includes development of a landing barge, gangway, parking, passenger shelter, and administrative buildings. The project includes burdensome permitting requirements, including state, local and federal requirements. Among these requirements are the negotiation of a lease with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as successful completion of a Tenant Alteration Application. Upon completion of all permitting, True will procure and administer construction of the work on behalf of the City.
