Mount Nansen Mine

True Environmental’s partner firm Ensero Solutions, in joint venture with JDS Energy and Mining (as Mount Nansen Remediation Limited Partnership), is executing a comprehensive mine remediation project at the abandoned Mount Nansen gold and silver mine, located 60 km west of Carmacks, Yukon.

Under an agreement with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), the project encompasses care and maintenance activities and full site remediation. A key component of the project was the successful design, construction, and operation of a water treatment plant commissioned in April 2022, which operates continuously to treat impacted water from the TSF, managing constituents including arsenic, iron, manganese, and zinc. The project team has implemented extensive environmental monitoring programs across nearly 200 locations, collecting critical data on surface water quality, groundwater, aquatics, and climate to support closure planning and permitting. Working closely with the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN), the project emphasizes building a positive legacy through training, employment opportunities, and revenue-sharing while following Yukon Government guidelines for water quality objectives and incorporating climate change considerations into closure planning.
