The Project

True Environmental assessed the environmental impact to a nearly 8,000-acre private ranch that suffered extensive wildfire damage. Through onsite vegetation assessments, aerial surveys, and desktop modeling, our team quantified ecosystem service loss and habitat restoration costs attributable to the potentially responsible party. Dr. Mark Laska served as a testifying expert witness for this case.

The team’s work included an arborist report covering tree mortality and observations of damage and disease in native oak trees. In addition, we developed a land management tool to inform the post-fire habitat restoration planning.
